This document describes how to create a tool in NX, then store that tool in the Tool Library, then recall that tool for future jobs. So, in short, a NX CAM user will never have to create tools again.
Create new tool in NX CAM.
Select desired tool and insert name, type name you wish to see in NC file then click OK
Insert correct data in Dimensions, click Holder when done.
Insert Holder Steps, click on More when done
Insert Non Cutting Moves –Engage if needed then click on Tool again
Type in the Tools name in Library Reference then click “Export Tool to Library”
Select correct Target Class. (END_MILL_NON_INDEXABLE will be for standard endmills and END_MILL_INDEXABLE will be for standard Tipmills with inserts) For this example we will use END_MILL_NON_INDEXABLE.
Click OK on Template Attributes
Click OK on message that Tool was Exported to Library.
Close Tool Dialog box
Open “Edit Machining Data Libraries”
Click on Tool Machining Data Tab then click insert
Notice the new tool has been added, click OK.
One can always retrieve this tool now from the library.
Select Class where tool was exported to. For this example is was non_indexable
Type in desired search request (PLEASE NOTE: Fields are case sensitive!)
For the data to be active for the tool “Set Machining Data” needs to be clicked in every operation (FEEDS, SPEEDS, DEPTH OF CUT, ect)
